Jay Leno shows up with bruised face and an eye patch to comedy show after fall

Jay Leno is recovering after a major fall.

The 74-year-old former “Tonight Show” host and TV personality arrived at his latest comedy show with an eye patch, broken wrist and bruised face.

He told “Inside Edition” that he fell down the side of a hill on his way to dinner before a Pittsburgh show.

“I’m a little beat up,” he told the outlet.” “I fell 60 feet. Boom, boom, boom, boom.”

Leno said he “hit a bunch of rocks,” which resulted in him being “all black and blue.” He noted that one of the rocks hit him in the eye, which is why he needed the eye patch. He also lost a nail on his finger.

When asked if he would be able to see again, he said, “It’ll be fine. I’m not worried about it.”

Despite the fall, Leno performed just three hours later and did not cancel his stand-up shows. The comedian also took the stage in Beverly Hills on Nov. 18.

Just last year, Leno was involved in a motorcycle accident that resulted in more broken bones. In late January 2023, he told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he “got knocked off” his motorcycle and had “a broken collarbone.”

He added, “I’ve got two broken ribs. I’ve got two cracked kneecaps.”

At the time, he also told NBC News over the phone that he had been driving his motorcycle when he smelled leaking gas and attempted to pull into an empty parking lot but crashed into a wire that was across two poles.

Additionally, in 2022, just two months before his motorcycle accident, Leno was severely burned after a fire erupted in his garage while he was working on his vintage cars. He spent 10 days at the Grossman Burn Center in Los Angeles after 7% of his body, including his face, chest and hands, were burned.

He told TODAY’s Hoda Kotb that he was working on a 1907 White Steam Car with a clogged fuel line. While underneath the car, he blew “some air through the line.”

“And suddenly, boom, I got a face full of gas. And then the pilot light jumped and my face caught on fire,” he said at the time.

Despite his most recent injuries, Leno is still scheduled to perform at the Comedy for a Cause event in Hermosa Beach, California, on Nov. 20 to raise money for the Grossman Burn Foundation.
